Guess who’s not the King but on the Throne? Right, it’s BitTorrent!

This summer the Chinese crypto‐millionaire Justin Sun bought p2p‐network BitTorrent.

Sun is a founder of the Tron Foundation, and he is going to integrate protocols of Tron and BitTorrent, which is supported by over 100 million users, for the new generation decentralized network. This massive undertaking was named Project Atlas.

In a nutshell, seeders would get dough for the file storage and sharing so that files could be downloaded at the maximum speed and would be available as long as possible. There are technical improvements inside as well but the main thing is joining forces of blockchain and bittorrent.

This might be a good news but some questions have still no answers.

First, let’s remember who Atlas is. No, it’s not a world map atlas, it’s an ancient Titan holding up the sky on his shoulders. If it’s not him, the sky would fall down on Earth and the whole thing would just go kaput.

See Mr Sun has an ambition? He only wants to create powerful decentralized Internet based on his protocols. His Majesty definitely has some class.

Second, will bit‐torrent seeders be rewarded for ANY type of content they share?

If someone creates a torrent with the latest cracked proprietor software or with the fresh movie, will he get paid for that? That is the question! Right holders surely won’t be happy getting to know their product being hacked, and leaked, and somebody make some dough on that.

Justin Sun should understand that. We all know BitTorrent never stores anything but it’s their users who do that. But if Tron start paying seeders Sun would be involved in a copyright infringement. For God’s sake, no new Lars Ulrich (Metallica drummer, who killed Napster) would arise for BitTorrent.

However, what if Sun ask big guys to officially seed their products through BT and paying them back with his “trons”? Who’s gonna deny the King?!

Well, it’s a third question. In fact, the foundation is developing the other coin for that purpose, which is based on the TRC‐20 protocol. Though beggars really can’t be choosers, but if TRC‐20 will be valued as his peer TRX – it’s 2 cents for the token right now – that means outside the Tron ecosystem, it’s useless. Let’s see what the network can offer.

Adding to that, Sun has been numerously accused of pump‐and‐dump thing for TRX as he allegedly cashed out his 6 billion tokens. Justin said it was some private investor, not him. What a ridiculous excuse! There were promises to bring cool partners like Alibaba as well as no real progress in his Tron development.

All this raises suspicion that Justin Sun is not a BitTorrent king, but a master of manipulation with the market. Let’s pray the King is not naked and his Atlas, failing to hold up neither blockchain nor torrent on his shoulders, would collapse one day.

And there’ll be no King, not Atlas on the Throne.
