Blockchain from City N

In Nizhny Novgorod, the «City N» mobile application on the blockchain is being tested for state administration tasks.

Nizhny Novgorod authorities report that residents will be able to file tax returns via the Vostok platform using an application using blockchain technology. The application will also provide an opportunity to confirm the identity of a resident of Nizhny Novgorod, and the ability to track payments that residents transferred to the state budget through the online portal of state services.

Thanks to new technologies, residents will be more actively involved in managing their city through proactive, so‐called,“ joint ”budgeting. The blockchain technology will allow us to ensure maximum transparency and honesty in the relationship between man and the state. ”

Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region

It is assumed that the 2020 Russian federal budget will provide funds to launch a pilot platform in other regions. The implementation of the platform in Russia will be supervised by the National Center for Informatization of Rostec State Corporation.

Recall that the state’s RosTech Corp. has prepared a proposal for a five‐year national blockchain strategy, which is expected to save the Russian budget about $ 25.4 billion.

According to press reports, Rostec Corporation and Vostok platform have signed a partnership agreement for the introduction of blockchain technology into the digital infrastructure of the Russian Federation.

FFC Media welcomes the initiative of the Russian authorities to introduce blockchain technologies in government. The main thing to remember is that one swallow does not make a spring. Spring makes a platform approach.

A global and effective solution, in our opinion, would be the creation of a national blockchain platform in which the functions of Cities N would be implemented natively for all participants.

But let it be as is for a while.
